Corrections Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Booze.co.uk is published by Alcohol Ltd and is regulated by IPSO. We follow the Editors' Code of Practice, including Clause 1 on accuracy. We take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading, or distorted information, including headlines, captions, images, and data.
If a significant inaccuracy, misleading statement, or distortion is identified, we correct it promptly and with due prominence. Where appropriate, we may publish an apology or give a fair opportunity to reply.
What We Publish
Corrections
Corrections are used when published information was wrong or materially misleading. The article may be amended, and a dated correction note will explain what was changed and what the accurate information is.
Clarifications
Clarifications are used where wording was accurate in a narrow sense but may have lacked context, created an unclear impression, or needed additional explanation.
Updates
Updates are used for developing stories where new information becomes available after publication. Updates do not replace the need for a correction if the original article contained a significant error.
Adjudications
If IPSO requires publication of a full adjudication, Alcohol Ltd will publish it in full and with the prominence directed by IPSO.
How Corrections Are Displayed
All corrections and clarifications are:
- Displayed with due prominence, proportionate to the significance of the issue
- Dated to show when the correction was made
- Clear about what information was incorrect and what is accurate
- Linked or logged on this page where appropriate
We keep copies of the original and updated versions where needed so that complaints can be assessed fairly.
How To Report An Inaccuracy
Use the Report an Inaccuracy link on any article or email corrections@booze.co.uk. Please include the article URL, the specific information you believe is inaccurate or misleading, supporting evidence, your contact details, and the outcome you are seeking. If you complain for someone else, include their written consent.
You can also use our Report an Inaccuracy page.
Internal Complaints Handling
We acknowledge complaints promptly, assess the material complained about, and decide whether a correction, clarification, update, apology, right of reply, or other remedy is required. Straightforward factual issues may be corrected quickly; complex complaints may require source checks, document review, or contact with relevant parties.
If IPSO refers a complaint to us, its process normally provides a 28-day referral period so that the publication and complainant can try to resolve the matter directly before IPSO investigates.
Escalation To IPSO
If you are not satisfied after using our complaints process, you may contact IPSO at www.ipso.co.uk. IPSO can consider complaints by people directly affected by coverage, or by someone acting with written consent.
IPSO usually requires complaints about online articles to be made within 12 months of online publication and complaints about print articles to be made within 4 months of print publication. IPSO can require remedies including correction, clarification, or full adjudication, but it cannot make a publication take an article down and cannot award compensation.
